Danielle Brown is seriously shy. Yet she has an unabashed cackle and a long, slappy stride. Danielle knows a pretty good amount about water. She doesn't like to drink much of it, but she swam back and forth in a pool for most of her youth.
Swim team taught Danielle about hard work and about the exuberate weight of the arms after too many rotations of the shoulder. Her first yoga experience was at High School States, when the assistant coach incorporated visualization into the preparation. Danielle realized that while pre-dawn flip turns developed commitment and strength, in hind-sight swim team was as much about the advancement of courage. Danielle believes that yoga harbors the space to dive deep beneath the reeds and dredge up that same kind of treasured awareness.
Danielle's classes promote bold expression based on quiet connections. In the studio, at the beach or on the paddle board, be prepared to move, groove, explore and reflect on the symmetries that bob within and abound each and every one of us. The balance required on the SUP board trumps that in studio but neither have anything on the balance challenged by the everyday. Danielle teaches like she SUPs, in layers. She treads lightly, builds from a foundation and tops with an incorporation of the elements by the sea or the human nature of the soul.
Danielle's strives for a Thumbs Up kind of life, that which includes schmearing kindness, chaffing realness, and celebrating passion. It's about falling back into your own wake, and rising with the tide.
She follows her teacher, Kim Hawkins, owner of Downunder CT, to continue to offer paddle boarding and kayaking to the community at Weed Beach in the Summer. Danielle’s hope is that the experience is reflective and rewarding in it’s connection to nature and it’s spirit of play.
